"Coffee is already known to be a preventative factor against mild depression, Parkinson's disease, and colon and rectal cancers."

Coffee Pods – viable option? Very soon..

We all know that coffee is the second most consumed beverage in the world with water being the first. The stimulant properties of coffee with its strong aroma and bittersweet taste make it the most popular drink worldwide with over 2 billion cups consumed every day! There is no doubt that the coffee business is here to stay and to grow. Revenue in the Coffee segment amounts to US$495.50bn in 2023. The market is expected to grow annually by 4.47% (CAGR 2023-2025). In relation to total population figures, per-person revenues of US$64.50 are generated in 2023.

The coffee pod market started with Nespresso, launched in 1986 by the Swiss multinational Nestlé. Eric Favre, a Nestlé engineer, visited a particularly popular Italian espresso bar in 1975. He observed that baristas had to continuously pull the levers on their espresso machines to increase the pressure and change how the coffee was extracted. Over the next ten years, Favre worked to create a simple brewer that imitated an espresso machine. The machine added pressurized air into the water and ground coffee to create a drink that had a pronounced layer of crema.

Today, the consumer wants to replicate the café experience at home and hence Pods are a good option. The coffee pod provides consumers with the convenience of great coffee right at their homes. With the mere push of a button, you can easily have a hot cup of coffee right in your hands within seconds. Here are the advantages of using a coffee pod:

Time Saving - Coffee pods also eliminate the need for extensive preparation, measuring coffee, and dealing with filters making them an ideal option for people who are busy and need something quick and efficient to help them manage their busy schedules.

Easy to use - Coffee pod machines are very easy to use and do not require any special skills or training. All one needs to do is pop a pod in the machine and press a button.

Easy to clean - Since there are no measuring or spills, it is extremely easy to maintain a clean home and kitchen for most working professionals and for people who have limited time.

Less wastage - Since the pods come in measured quantities of around 5 gm, they help reduce wastage.

The issue with Pods however is that coffee pod machines are extremely expensive in India and hence not a viable option. But not to worry – just like how AUR Coffee is solving the issues of expensive Café’s by introducing it’s own Cafés, we also plan to get into the Coffee Machine and Pod market to complete our mission of making premium coffee made available to every Indian at a fair price point.

Cheers,
